Suggested Aftercare for Tattoos

  • Remove bandage in a clean space after 2-3 hours. Bandage may be left on overnight if it feels comfortable and secure.

  • After removing the bandage, ash the tattoo immediately with warm water and soap. We recommend Dial Soap. No soaps withs fragrance, moisture beads, or scrubs.

  • Make a lather in your hand with the soap and warm water.

  • Gently clean tattoo using a circular motion, until all ointment, blood, and lymphatic fluid are removed.

  • Rinse the tattoo and wash once again until the skin is clean.

  • A clean paper towel may be used to dab the tattoo dry.

  • Only use clean hands to wash your tattoo. No washcloths, bath sponges, or loofahs on a fresh tattoo.

  • Once the tattoo is dry, apply Aquaphor or Vitamin A & D healing ointment. Apply a thin layer and rub it in. The dab excess off with a clean paper towel. Use the ointment for the first week, Then switch to a regular fragrance free lotion such as Lubriderm.

  • Consult your tattoo artist if you plan to do strenuous activity within the first 10 days of having your tattoo.

  • Lotion may be applied to the tattoo as it dries out. However if your skin is extremely sensitive, lotion may cause acne-like break outs. This can be taken care of by reducing the number of lotion applications per day.

  • After a few days, the tattoo will begin to form flaky scabs that will fall off on their own.

  • Do not pick and scratch your tattoo. Keep it moisturized and scabs will fall off eventually. it normally takes 3 weeks for a tattoo to completely heal.

  • We offer one free touch up on all tattoos that require it for up to a year after the tattoo was originally done. Contact your artist for more information

  • Things to Avoid 

     Avoid oceans, pools, lakes, or hot tubs for 3 weeks. Do not expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 3 weeks. After we suggest using 60 SPF sunscreen. Beware of gym equipment. Clean any equipment before use. 

          

  • Signs of Infection

    •  Swelling of the tattooed area

    •  Red lesions around the area

    •  Discoloration

    • Areas of hard and raised tissue

    • Feeling of pulsatile heat radiating from your tattoo

    •  Pus draining from the tattoo site

Variations in color and design may exist between the tattoo art and the actual tattoo when applied to my body. I also understand that over time, the colors and the clarity of my tattoo will fade due to unprotected exposure to the sun and the naturally occurring dispersion of pigment under the skin.
